It was my second summer nannying for a family of three girls. I was chatting with the 12-year-old about one of the boys at her camp that she thought might have a crush on her and one of her sisters screams “I WANT TO BE THE PONY QUEEN.” I immediately turned to see what could possibly be wrong. When I entered the front room, the 10-year-old was standing on top of her costume chest with a tiara and about twelve My Little Pony dolls in her arms. Her younger sister was sobbing on the floor. After reassuring the younger girl that she, too, could be the pony queen, I went into the bathroom and laughed until I cried. I love how unpredictable and passionate children can be. I love helping them solve their problems and watching as they begin to develop the skills to solve problems on their own. I am passionate about developing relationships with the children I sit for and love getting to know their unique personalities.
